Variants Project Information
The purpose of this page is to
provide information about the LXX/OG Variants Project.
The aim of
the project is to digitize the best available critical apparatus of each of
the books of the Septuagint and other Old Greek translations of the Hebrew
Bible/Old Testament (HB/OT).
This site is a working location, for the
uploading, via ftp, of the digitizing work in progress.
We are
working in sections, toward completion. The nearest to completion are the
following sections or books:
The Twelve Minor
Prophets
Psalms
Genesis
Deuteronomy
Background
The Variants Project is the
work of CATSS, or Computer Assisted Tools for Septuagint/Scriptural Study,
housed at the University of Pennsylvania, under the direction of Robert A.
Kraft, Professor Emeritus of Religious Studies, and Past President of the
Society of Biblical Literature. The work of many contributors is represented
in the digital files of each HB/OT section or book, and each of them
has required numerous stages of preparation.
